CGLA strives to be a bridge between our
clients and individuals who desire to give assistance to the
disenfranchised and the poor. Our Volunteer Program seeks to
introduce attorneys, law students, student interns, and other
volunteers to CGLA – our clients, practice, and community – while
creating satisfying and meaningful volunteer experiences. Volunteers
are an integral part of our work, and are often the first contact
our clients have with CGLA. Whether assisting clients at
the front desk, conducting intake interviews at our office or
the jail, or helping clients file for expungements and sealings
at our Help Desk at the Daley Center, volunteers work with our
staff to promote CGLA’s mission of answering God’s
call to provide justice and mercy to the poorest of the poor.
In FY2007, a team of 398 volunteers invested over 9,860 hours of pro
bono service at CGLA, enabling CGLA to continue providing
the best quality legal assistance to those who need it most.
In return, these volunteers received the personal fulfillment
of knowing they were making a profound difference in the lives
of others, while cultivating meaningful relationships with clients,
staff, and other volunteers in the process.
Opportunities exist for attorneys, law
students, and others,
and can work around your schedule. Volunteer orientations
take place
at our office monthly. Please consider becoming part of the Cabrini
Green Legal Aid family. For more information, contact our Volunteer
Coordinator, Kevin Krainz at 312-266-1345 ext 418, or via email.
