Cabrini Green Legal Aid (CGLA) is a faith-inspired non-profit, providing civil and criminal legal services to Chicago’s impoverished residents for 38 years. We serve over 5,000 individuals each year in the areas of family, housing, criminal defense, and expungement/sealing/clemency law.

Additionally, our social work program addresses the underlying life challenges faced by many of our clients.

The Assistant Director of Social Work position at CGLA serves as the head of the Client Support Services Team, providing supervision, support and direction to staff and interns. The Assistant Director of Social Work engages with attorneys and clients across all of CGLA’s legal programs, and is responsible for ensuring the fidelity of our interdisciplinary model of practice. In addition to the interdisciplinary work, the Assistant Director of Social Work engages with CGLA’s network of partner agencies and other social service organizations to further develop our collaborative partner relationships. The Assistant Director of Social Work reports to the Director of Programs and participates as an active member of the upper management team.

The Manager of Corporate & Foundation Relations will serve as a vital connector for Finance, Development, and Program Staff, and must possess the ability to see and understand all points of view. This position will provide the overall planning and coordination of resources, tasks, and necessary steps to meet grant obligations. The Manager of Corporate & Foundation Relations will work with Development and Program staff to manage CGLA’s funding portfolio, which includes: grant writing – private, public and government – timely reporting and compliance.

Social Worker

The Social Worker position at CGLA serves as part of an interdisciplinary team, addressing the holistic needs of our clients as they receive legal services from CGLA staff attorneys. The Social Worker provides case management services to clients across all of CGLA’s legal programs, managing a caseload of approximately 40 active Client Support Service cases. In addition to providing direct services, the Social Worker engages with CGLA’s network of partner agencies and other social service organizations to achieve successful client outcomes. The Social Worker reports directly to the Client Support Services Manager.

This is a fulltime position for a Supervising Attorney of the Criminal Records Program. The Criminal Records Program provides high-volume legal services to over 5,000 men and women each year in the Chicagoland area who are seeking to remove barriers imposed by their criminal records through expungement and sealing, pardons, health care waivers and certificates. The primary responsibilities of this role are to implement CGLA’s priorities in the criminal records practice and to train and supervise in-house staff, fellows, interns, and volunteers to assure quality legal representation. Services are performed at CGLA’s office, at remote locations, including Help Desks at the Daley Center in downtown Chicago, South Suburban Cook County (Markham), at the offices of designated community partners, and in Cook County circuit courts. Reporting to the Director of Legal Programs, this position supervises at least two staff attorneys, volunteer attorneys and law students as required to fulfill program goals.
